Scheme of Delegation

At Kingsbridge Community Primary School the governing body's role is to ‘conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement’ and have a clear focus on three core strategic functions:


  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Monitoring that the school’s leadership team is focused on the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent


To achieve this the Full Governing Body meets twice every half term, or more often if required. The FGB routinely deals with premises, finance and personnel issues, scrutinising the budget and ensuring that the school’s resources are used efficiently. The FGB also focuses on curriculum, SEN and inclusion and monitors and evaluates pupil progress and well-being. The FGB uses the School Improvement Plan and monthly Headteacher reports as its key documents to ensure that the school is delivering against its priorities. In addition to the FGB there is a pay committee which reviews the salaries of all school staff and meets at least annually.
