Scheme of Delegation

At Kingsbridge Community Primary School the governing body's role is to ‘conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement’ and have a clear focus on three core strategic functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Monitoring that the school’s leadership team is focused on the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

To achieve this the Full Governing Body meets once every half term, or more often if required. The FGB is supported by three committees; the Resources committee, the Teaching and Learning committee and the Pay committee. On behalf of the FGB, Resources deals with premises, finance and personnel issues scrutinising the budget and ensuring that the schools resources are used efficiently. On behalf of the FGB, Teaching and Learning focuses on curriculum, SEN and inclusion and monitors and evaluates pupil progress and well-being. Both committees also meet once every half term. The pay committee reviews the salaries of all school staff and meets at least annually.
